Here’s a little about us…

Jackie, Camp Director

Hi I’m Jackie! I am one of 5 children originally from a small beach town just south of Boston. This will be my third season at Moonlight Basin after falling in love with Montana last winter! Before finding Moonlight Basin I was lucky enough to be a live-in nanny for a family of 6 children for many many years gaining awesome memorable experience. In my off time, I’m passionate about all things outside—whether it’s hiking, snowboarding, or simply exploring nature. I have also been lucky enough to travel all over the world, which has fueled my love for adventure and new experiences. I graduated with a degree in Nutritional Sciences and love sharing my knowledge of health and wellness with kids. Helping them discover new adventures and connect with the natural world is something I truly enjoy. I’m all about creating fun, active experiences that inspire curiosity and healthy living! I’m excited for another amazing season filled with fun, growth, and connection!

Megan, Camp Supervisor

I have lived in many different places throughout my life. I was born in Hawaii, then moved to Texas, Colorado, Ohio, and Florida. I went back to Hawaii for university where I got my degree in English. After graduating university, I moved to the small town of Talkeetna, Alaska for the summer. The following year I worked a summer season in Yellowstone, where I fell in love with the surrounding area and decided that I wanted to stay for as long as possible, but wasn’t done traveling just yet. In the middle of COVID, I moved to South Korea where I taught English as a second language for two years before deciding that it was time to come back to the States, and moved to Big Sky in the summer of 2023. During the fall season, I went back home to Florida and worked as a volunteer in the wildlife rehabilitation center at Alaqua Animal Refuge before joining Moonlight Basin as the Kid’s Rec Supervisor in December 2023.

When I’m not working, you can find me taking naps in my car in Yellowstone, hiking on nearby trails in the summer, or snowboarding in the winter months.

Grace, Camp Counselor

Grace (she/her) is originally from the San Diego area, where she fell in love with camping, hiking, and backpacking in the Laguna Mountains. While living there, she volunteered with Girl Scouts San Diego leading hiking and backpacking classes. After graduating high school, she took a gap year that included adventures like thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, backpacking around Colombia and Peru, and working a winter season doing Kids Care at Moonlight Basin! During the school year, she's working on her applied math degree at UC Berkeley and working at the Student Environmental Resource Center as the resources and operations associate. She always looked forward to summer camp growing up, and is so excited to be returning to Big Sky in the summer as a counselor!

In her free time, she loves climbing, hiking/trail-running, skiing, and reading.

Kate, Camp Counselor

Hi I’m Kate! I am originally from a small town in Wyoming. This May, I graduated from Montana State University and got my bachelors in Kinesiology. I will be moving to Vermont this fall to pursue a doctorate in occupational therapy.

I have worked in childcare and education at the MSU Child Development Center for the past three years. Throughout these last three years I have enjoyed my time greatly but am looking forward to a new experience working at Moonlight Basin. When I am not working, I enjoy hanging out with friends and being in the outdoors. Some activities I like are skiing, biking, climbing, camping, and making jewelry.

Ted, Camp Counselor

Having grown up in Vail, CO and of Swedish descent, the mountains are in my blood. I've skied since I was 2 and love doing most things outdoors, except mountain climbing. My favorite activities are skiing, rafting, live music, camping, backpacking, and mountain biking. You'll most likely find me on the Gallatin River on summer afternoons.

I came to Montana State University for my bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and fell in love with Montana. Every time I travel to new places in the US and around the world, I'm happier to call this place home. I've taught children's ski school for 15 years and thoroughly enjoy educating, mentoring, and inspiring the next generation. Throughout this process, I've been able to maintain these mentoring relationships' with local children and vacationing families that I've taught for 7-10 years. I look forward to sharing this passion with the children at Camp Moonlight.

Althea, Camp Counselor

Hi! I’m Althea! I’m originally from Nebraska and graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a degree in Elementary Education. This past year, I’ve been teaching in The Bronx in New York City. While I’ve loved being a city girl, I definitely missed the mountains. I worked at Moonlight Basin in summer 2024, and I’m excited to be returning this summer! I love being outside whenever I can. I enjoy running, hiking, skiing, climbing, and honestly just trying anything new. When I’m not on the move, I enjoy thrifting, creating collage art, and going to live music events. I’m looking forward to a fun summer!

Grace, Camp Counselor

Hi, I’m Grace (she/her) from the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York. I’m currently studying at the State University of New York at Geneseo, working toward dual certification in Early Childhood and Childhood Education. I love working with children of all ages and am passionate about creating supportive, engaging learning environments. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, baking, traveling, spending time with friends, and going to concerts—big and small— to see some of my favorite bands live. I’m especially excited for my first summer in Big Sky at Moonlight Basin!

Mabel, Camp Counselor

Mabel hails from the rainy Pacific Northwest where she has been working with kids outside for the past decade. She holds a degree in outdoor education from Western Washington University where she graduated in 2021. This past winter, Mabel decided to move to Big Sky to join the Mountain Sports team. She knew she had to see Montana’s beautiful landscapes in the summer and decided to stick around. In her free time, you can find her running, biking, climbing, swimming, and nerding out about plants.

Ty, Camp Counselor

Hey guys! My name is Ty! I am originally from Louisiana but decided to start traveling around 4 years ago. In the search of new experiences and new places, I found Moonlight Basin and fell in love. This is my second season at Moonlight Basin. Joining for another year was a must for me this summer after having such a great time last year. My whole life I have always been drawn to fitness and the outdoors. Over the last 4 years I coached kids fitness where my love for working with children started. I love being a role model for the younger generation and helping kids build confidence and bravery.

I am more than excited to come back to Big Sky and can’t wait to meet new families and catch up with returning families!
